History has shown that the tactical community needed a better system for delivering Nonlethal pyrotechnic chemical agents when confronted with barricaded suspects. By their very nature pyrotechnic non-lethal chemical agents burn in excess of 1,200 degrees and
constitute an extreme fire hazard.
A system was needed which would minimize the chance
of starting fires. Through the development of the BurnSafe, HandSafe and GasRam, heavy concentrations of pyrotechnic non-lethal chemical agents can be delivered efficiently with minimal probability of starting a fire.
Both the BurnSafe, HandSafe and GasRam are multi-purpose tools. They enable tactical teams various ways to deal with barricaded suspects by delivering non-lethal chemical agents into hardened structures. The systems are designed so that a delivery team can deploy the tools into the structure with minimal risk of starting a fire.

As a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Bernardo was instrumental in developing the GasRam tools for the Tactical Unit. He worked along with tactical deputies to fabricate the first ever GasRam.
Bernardo has since developed the other tools
that Custom Metal Concepts manufactures.
